GAURI KOHLI

GAURI KOHLI is a design house creating sculptural objects for the home in marble, onyx, travertine, brass, acacia wood, wool and cotton. Founded in 2012, it is named for its designer, Gauri Kohli, who directs every form, material and finish.

Carved

Marble

Cut from one block, then shaped. The veining is the stone's own, so no two objects carry the same lines, and the ridges hold shadow differently through the day.

Translucent

Onyx

Banded by mineral layers and faintly translucent. Set near a window, the color moves from sage to gray to cream as the light changes.

Warm

Brass

Warm against stone and glass. Where it is handled it takes a slow patina; where it is polished it returns to its first color.

Wool & Cotton

Dyed fiber takes color unevenly, so the tone moves across the weave. Underfoot and in the hand, the rows read as texture before they read as pattern.
